大学に入ったころ、私は勉強を優先したかったので、アルバイトをするつもりはなかった。
しかし、友人から「働くことで学べることも多い」と聞き、週に二日だけカフェで働き始めた。
実際に働いてみると、接客だけでなく、時間を守ることや責任を持って仕事をすることの大切さも分かった。
自分でお金を稼ぐようになり、お金の使い方も以前より考えるようになった。
一方で、忙しい時期にシフトを入れすぎて、授業中に眠くなったこともある。
アルバイトには良い経験も多いが、働けば働くほどいいというわけではない。
今は、アルバイトをするかどうかより、勉強や自分の時間とのバランスを考えて働くことが大切だと思っている。

Useful Expressions
1. ～つもりはない — have no intention of
アルバイトをするつもりはなかった。
I had no intention of getting a part-time job.
Use ～つもりはない when someone does not intend or plan to do something.
・大学に入ったばかりなので、今は仕事を増やすつもりはありません。
I’ve just started university, so I don’t intend to take on more work right now.
2. ～だけでなく — not only
接客だけでなく、時間を守ることや責任を持って仕事をすることの大切さも分かった。
I learned not only about customer service but also the importance of being punctual and working responsibly.
Use ～だけでなく when adding another point to something already mentioned.
・アルバイトでは、お金だけでなく経験も得られます。
You can gain not only money but also experience from a part-time job.
3. ～ようになる — come to / begin to
お金の使い方も以前より考えるようになった。
I began to think more carefully about how I spend money.
Use ～ようになる to describe a change in someone’s behavior, habit, or way of thinking.
・働き始めてから、時間の使い方を考えるようになりました。
After I started working, I began thinking more about how I use my time.
4. ～ば～ほど — the more…, the more…
働けば働くほどいいというわけではない。
Working more and more isn’t necessarily better.
Use ～ば～ほど to show that as one thing increases or changes, another tendency also increases or changes.
・練習すればするほど、仕事に慣れてきます。
The more you practice, the more you get used to the job.
English Translation
When I entered university, I wanted to prioritize my studies, so I had no intention of getting a part-time job. However, a friend told me, “There are many things you can learn from working,” so I started working at a café just two days a week.
Once I actually started working, I learned not only about customer service but also the importance of being punctual and doing my job responsibly. After I began earning my own money, I also started thinking more carefully about how I spent it.
On the other hand, during a busy period, I took on too many shifts and sometimes felt sleepy during class. A part-time job can provide valuable experience, but working more and more isn’t necessarily better.
Now, rather than simply thinking about whether or not students should have a part-time job, I believe it’s important to work while maintaining a balance with studying and your own personal time.
